Discover the Real Algarve!
Little bays between red towering cliffs by the
blue sea: this is how most people see the Algarve in the South of Portugal.
Every summer, thousands of holidaymakers visit the resorts west of Faro.
But far fewer know the Eastern Algarve. Between Faro and Vila Real de
Santo António on the river Guadiana, which marks the boundary with
Spain, its long, offshore sandy beaches and its gentle inlets mark out
the coast.
The Sotavento offers not
only kilometer-long sand beaches ideal for children, clean Atlantic waters,
and plenty of sunshine, but also nature and culture in purest form: in
the impressive lagoons of the Ria Formosa
Natural Park, in the beautiful historical town of Tavira,
or in the Serra, the inviting and hilly hinterland.
